The nearest town is Füssen, reachable by train from Munich in under 2 hours. From Füssen, buses and taxis run to the castle village of Hohenschwangau at the foot of the hill.

April–October: 9 am – 6 pm
November–March: 10 am – 4 pm
Last admission 30 minutes before closing. Book tickets in advance — queues can be long in summer.
The Castle
Commissioned in 1868 by Ludwig II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein was the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. Guided tours take approximately 35 minutes inside the palace.
